Hunt Coulee Ranch Community Public Hearing
Rural seniors, who have been working on an option to retire in a rural setting over the past five years, came one step closer to realizing their dream. On June 1st, 2010, Rocky View County Council unanimously approved the first step toward the development of a rural seniors' housing facility located in the Lochend community this week.
With the land-use re-designation application endorsed, the rural seniors housing committee can get on with planning a seniors housing community and the establishment of a conservation easement. Rocky View Councillors demonstrated both their strong desire to support rural seniors housing options and the kind of "out of the box" thinking required to break from traditional models.

Open House
The Hunt-Coulee Ranch Retirement Community Open House was held on May 6, 2010 with 85 attendees.
- 96% of the people that completed evaluations said they supported the project
- 83% of respondents saw the need for a plan for seniors to age in their rural community.
- 78% said they would definitely or maybe consider purchasing a home in this retirement community.
