Housing Update
CDS and rural seniors have been working for 4 years on the Hunt Coulee Project (north of Hwy 567/Bearspaw Rd. intersection) where a 1/4 section of land donated by Ruth Hunt will allow for 45 acres for a not for profit seniors housing community and the remaining 115 acres kept in grassland conservation. The concept business model includes a portion of profits to be re-invested in supporting the affordability of the housing development and toward home based community programs.

CDS has formed a 3P partnership to advance this project as well as develop a model for other rural communities. The partners include Rocky View developer Herb Meiner and accounting firm Meyers Norris Penny who were attracted to this housing model because of its benefit to the community as a whole and it's replicability for a rural aging in community adaptation in full or part by other rural communities in Alberta.
