Meet our members..
Sue Wood - Chair
Sue has well over 20 years of experience with volunteers and has seen first-hand, the positive impact they have on their communities. She held the position of Manager of Volunteer Resources at the Calgary General Hospital / Peter Lougheed Centre for 13 years, leading 500 volunteers in 35 programs. Later she used her considerable training and facilitation skills to run her own consulting company where she provided board governance, strategic planning and volunteer management expertise. Sue believes volunteerism is the cornerstone of individual, corporate and community development. She has also been an active volunteer herself nationally and internationally and is now energized and motivated to give back to her own community. Sue is a long-time resident of Rocky View having raised her family in Springbank and is now enjoying retirement in Bragg Creek.
Rob Butler - Treasurer
In 1981, Rob moved from hometown Edmonton to Yellowknife to take a position with the Government of the Northwest Territories. Like many of his contemporaries, he went for two years but unlike most, he stayed for 24. In 1983, he started his own advertising agency which is still in operation. Over the years Rob has served his community in a range of volunteer roles including a volunteer agency, community foundation, regional health board, education district, the Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary service club. As an interested parent, he volunteered with a playschool association, a parent's advisory committee, Canadian Parents for French, and the ringette association, His interest in politics has also meant he has been involved in many municipal and territorial election campaigns. In 2005 Rob returned to Alberta and moved to Cochrane where he continues his tie to the north acting as consultant to a number of businesses. Rob is married to Tannis Hushagen, a registered nurse. They have two daughters - Montana and Mariah
