Telephone Market Survey
Thank you to those who participated in the Telephone Market Survey.
Over 3,460 people were contacted within a 40 km radius and 351 surveys were completed with the following results:
- 58% of respondents were ages 55-59.
- 75% want to retire in a rural community.
- 76% thought the proposed location of the Lochend housing project was good.
- 83% said they would consider moving into this project.
- 17% of respondents who would not consider moving into this project felt that medical access was their primary reason.
- Most important services include: transportation/mobility, yard/house maintenance and social/recreation activities.
- 62% felt a price range of $250,000 to $400,000 was of interest.
- Preferred community size is between 50-100 units
Overall, there is a demand for rural seniors housing and the Rural Seniors Housing Project has a high appeal level.
- Re-designation application was submitted June 12/09. County of Rocky View staff will advise on requirements/engineering reports needed on issues such as the availability of water, the treatment of waste water, the management of storm water, road access and an overall community plan.
- Business plan to be developed by the Rural Seniors Housing Project (RSHP) management team for financing.
- Apply for various grants and loans to complete the engineering and planning studies in September/October 2009.
- Public hearing and design charette this fall.
- Approval for our application - Hopefully by Nov/Dec, 2009.
