"A catalyst, an organizer and integrator"

CDS works with local community leaders, volunteers and partners to proactively address opportunities and challenges. In the process we facilitate the development of social capital by helping communities build on their own assets (strengths) and link them to resources they need to succeed.

Our work is to:

DISCOVER

  1. Research relevant issues, resources, statistics, trends
  2. Develop community social inventories and profiles
  3. Develop partnerships with organizations, governments and institutions to provide research, project work and practicum experience

CONNECT

  1. Plan, organize and facilitate community meetings, focus groups, open houses, forums, conferences, workshops, community group and special events
  2. Recognize significant contributions from residents, volunteer initiatives and partnerships
  3. Promote community involvement and awareness through events, newsletters and the media

MOBILIZE

  1. Facilitate community action by assisting individuals/groups to organize, plan and implement
  2. Encourage community leadership through collaborative planning and training opportunities
  3. Develop partnerships with local community associations, clubs and organizations, corporate sector and various levels of government
